From April 25 to 27, 2025, young racing driver Lennart Wolf from Braunschweig took part in his first race weekend in the all-electric NXT Gen Cup – with success: thanks to strong performances and a podium finish, he made an impressive start to the new series.

Friday: Minimal track time due to multiple interruptions
Both free practice sessions on Friday were heavily disrupted by incidents. The first session saw four stoppages and the second a further six, severely limiting track time and making setup work difficult.

Saturday: Strong recovery and technical misfortune
In the first qualifying session, practice starts, traffic, and several red flags meant only three timed laps were possible. Still, Lennart secured P9. In the following race, he delivered a strong drive, climbing up to fifth place.

As the NXT Gen Cup uses a “reverse grid” from P8 for the second race, Lennart started from fourth on the grid. After a great start, he quickly took the lead and held it for two to three laps. However, a puncture forced him into the pits – rejoining at the back of the field, he fought his way back to finish P14.

Sunday: Learning curve and strong finish
The second qualifying session went much better. At one point Lennart was running third and on his fourth lap was on course for the fastest time. However, he pitted – assuming that 17% battery charge would not be enough for a top lap. A misjudgment that provided a valuable learning experience. Nevertheless, with P5 he secured a solid starting position.

In race three, he dropped to seventh shortly after the safety car due to strategically used push-to-pass moves from his rivals. But in the closing stages, he showed fighting spirit and finished in P4 – just shy of the podium. In the fourth and final race, the breakthrough came: starting from fifth, Lennart worked his way up to second place – his first podium in the new series.

Conclusion: Promising debut with room for growth

A podium, valuable race experience, and plenty learned: Lennart Wolf impressed at his first NXT Gen Cup weekend with consistency, pace, and clear development potential. The next round will take place from July 4 to 6, 2025, at the Norisring as part of the DTM support program.
