Podium finish and strong races in summer conditions – climbs to fifth in the championship standings

In bright summer weather, Braunschweig racing driver Lennart Wolf competed last weekend at the Nürburgring as part of the DTM program. In the NXT Gen Cup, the world’s first all-electric touring car series for young talents, all 17 drivers compete in identical cars. What counts here is pure driving skill, tactical finesse, and perfect car setup.

Lennart Wolf, a member of RSC Wolfenbüttel e.V. in the ADAC, showed strong performance right from free practice. Together with his engineer and mechanic, he fine-tuned the race car for the challenging Nürburgring circuit. The result: an outstanding qualifying session with only a hair’s breadth separating him from the top. Times were extremely close – L. Stiefelhagen secured pole with 1:50.179 minutes, followed by A. Gustafsson with 1:50.238, and Wolf with 1:50.267. Due to a time penalty for Gustafsson, Wolf moved up to second on the grid for the first race.

First podium right in the opening race
Already on the first lap, Wolf took the lead. A thrilling battle with Stiefelhagen unfolded, lasting until the final lap. In the end, Wolf had to concede by a narrow margin – finishing second and taking his first podium of the weekend.

Exciting charge in race two
For the second race, the top eight finishers from race one started in reverse order, meaning Wolf lined up seventh. With a great start, he quickly fought his way up to second place. However, a small mistake cost him several positions, and he eventually crossed the line in fifth.

Photo finish in race three
The third race grid was based on the drivers’ second-best qualifying times, which put Wolf in fifth. After some spectacular overtakes, he ran as high as third. In a tough but fair duel, the race ended with a dramatic photo finish: just nine thousandths of a second decided the position – Wolf finished sixth.

Consistently among the frontrunners – now up to fifth in the standings
With one podium and three races within striking distance of the top positions, Wolf collected valuable points. In the overall standings, he climbs to fifth place.

The NXT Gen Cup season finale will take place from August 22 to 24 at the Sachsenring. The last four races of the season will be held there as part of the DTM program – and Lennart Wolf is once again aiming for the podium.
